St. Xavier's English Medium School, Shanti Bhawan, Jashpur (C.G), a minority Catholic Institution is run and managed by the members of the Society of Jesus (popularly known as 'Jesuits'), a Religious Order of the Catholic church founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540. It belongs to a worldwide network of academic and business schools in India, the group of St. Xavier's School , Colleges and Institutions are well known. This School is part of the same family.
The property of the institution was bought by Fr. Paul Bulkans, S.J. in 1957. Initially the sisters of SMI (Sisters of Mary Immaculate) Krishnanagar (Kolkata) were invited to begin the primary school in 1971. The Sisters started the school from July 1, 1971.
